Ratt Live HOB Orlando

Taking a trip back to the late 80's early 90's is always a good time. That's exactly what happened on Thursday night June 15. Ratt played the House of Blues Orlando, and it was a kick ass show.Say what you want about hair bands or the 80's, but those bands still know how to put on a rock show. It didn't even have to be on a big stage with pyro and lights. Ratt tore it up and sounded great. It had only been a few years since I saw them open for Poison in 2007, now they were back headlining, and they had a new CD. I have never thought over the years of Warren DiMartini as a guitar hero, or virtuoso, or whatever you want to call them, but he has changed my mind. He ripped it up and I thought to myself, Damn this guy is fucking good.

The guys took the stage just before 10pm. They kicked things off with "You're in Love". You can't mistake that guitar riff. The crowd loved it. At first I wasn't sure Stephen Pearcy was into it, but when they hit "Lack of Communication" Pearcy was on it. I believe at this point was the first time I had seen a bra get thrown on stage in years. Stephen commented it looked like a 36. Classic. It was after this song, Ratt busted into a new song "Take a Big Bite". By the way if you don't have the new Ratt CD "Infestation" you need to pick it up. It sounds killer. I think it says a lot for the new CD when the fans want to hear the new material live. It was then back to the classics. "I Want a Woman", "Slip of the Lip" and one of my personal favorites "Lovin' You's a Dirty Job", but someone's gotta do it. Again it was time to hear some more new stuff. "Last Call" and "Best of Me" the lead single from "Infestation". "Back for More" took us back to older Ratt. The crowd was into and never stopped singing along the entire show. "Way Cool Jr" is always great to hear live and they did an awesome version. Of course the last song of the set was their biggest hit "Round and Round" and the crowd went crazy, and got even louder as they sang with Stephen. I thought for sure the show was over, as the house lights started to come up, but you could see them tuning up the guitars. Ratt came back out for a couple more one of which included "Walkin the Dog". They wrapped up the show with another new song and my favorite from "Infestation", "Eat Me Up Alive".

The only song I didn't hear that would have made this show complete was "Body Talk". Regardless the show kicked ass and was well worth the money. If they hit your city, I highly recommend checking out the show. I never thought over the years of Warren DiMartini as a guitar hero, or virtuoso, or whatever you want to call them, but he changed my mind on this night. He ripped it up and I thought to myself. Damn this guy is fucking good.
