Mr. Big - Live at the House of Blues L.A. April 2, 2011

The last Mr. Big show I saw was in 1993 on the "Lean Into It" CD, and I can remember how great the band was then. After hearing "What If," I couldn't wait to see them for the fourth time live at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. Not to mention it was the bands first show with the original members since 1997. The House of Blues was packed. The line to get in was wrapped around the club and down Sunset Blvd. You could tell it was going to be a kick ass show.

The talent in this band is just incredible. I would pick this band in a heartbeat as some of the greatest musicians. I challenge you to tell me a band that has more talent than what's in Mr. Big. Paul Gilbert on guitar, Eric Martin vocals, Billy Sheehan on bass, and Pat Torpey on the drums. Eric Martin's voice hasn't lost a note over the years. He still sounds great. You could see from the first song until the last one that this band was having a great time, and was happy to be sharing the stage once again. Watching Billy Sheehan and Paul Gilbert trade riffs is just a downright cool thing to witness. Paul makes playing look effortless.

The band is definitely excited about playing together again and they are in Japan for some shows, then they make it back for a few shows here in the States. If you have the chance to see these guys live, do yourself a favor and do it. It's even worth the road trip. I promise you will not be disappointed.
