Kid Rock's label, Atlantic Records, has confirmed that the singer's new album, Born Free, has been pushed back from a September 7th release to a November 16th arrival. According to a press release, Rock's eighth studio effort is "a transformational album" for the artist, adding, "While there is still the edge, wit, and swagger of previous albums, he doesn't rap, there's no metal -- there isn't even a parental warning sticker."
Rock said, "The catalyst for this record was Detroit, and my thoughts on the world through the lens of Detroit. Watching everything go downhill over the past few years, the economy, the loss of jobs everywhere, I wanted to make a record that reflected the times but that still had soul."
Rock worked with producer Rick Rubin on the record, which features guest appearances from Bob Seger, Sheryl Crow, Zac Brown, Trace Adkins, T.I., Martina McBride, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and others.
The press release goes on to describe the album as a "great new American classic rock record that challenges the field."
The title track will be released as a single on September 14th. Rock will announce touring plans soon.
