Blade

Trey Anastasio-Unknown Guitar God

This guy is a guitar player, I didn't know how good he was until I saw the first four songs of Phish Thursday night. And by the "first four songs", I meant the first hour and a half.

After four songs, it got to be around beddy-by time for Blade, At 9pm I headed out and was shaking my head at what a nice guitar player this guy was and how we always think about Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and that crowd...but the newer killer guitar guys always get overlooked. I guess that is because they haven't been around long enough and aren't legendary yet, hell I don't know, Derek Trucks is one of those, so is Trey Anastasio. We saw Trey open for the Rolling Stones in 2006 at Wallace Wade Stadium at Duke University in Durham and he surprised me then...I had been thinking he was a hack until that night. Check out his guitar work from Thursday night. He can do it.

That night in 2006 at the Stones show...Bryan Shaw and I were broadcasting live from the main gate and thousand and thousands of people were streaming in and can you believe Bryan wouldn't let the crowd pass him through the air like they do with mascots. Can you believe that??

"Can y'all pass Bryan through the air into the stadium??!!!!" I was yelling at them.

"YEAH HELL YEAH!!!!"

But Bryan said this..."F*** that."
