Here we go on a Monday. Today's Video of the Day features Social Distortion live performing Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire". I love this version and again I will thank my older brother Steve for turning me on to this one. When I moved to Los Angeles I am pretty sure this was the only band I heard him play. I love this band now. I think one of my favorite CD's from them is "Live at the Roxy". Speaking of "Ring of Fire", I remember this story about how a company actually wanted to use this song in a commercial for their product. They were willing to throw down millions of dollars to use it, but they wouldn't say what the product was. Finally, the company had to say what it was for. They had a couple of the people on board to use the song, but the third person was like no way is this happening. That company wanted to use the song for their hemorrhoid product. Thank that guy for not letting this be the song for a product like that. Johnny Cash would have risen from the grave on that one. That story still makes me laugh.
It was a great weekend. I wish I would have hit the Scorpions / Ratt concert in Tampa this weekend, but it didn't work out, especially since the Scorps are billing this their last tour. Somehow I get the feeling this is really the last tour. By the way if you haven't checked out their newest release you should.
Also read up on the story in the news section about Frankie Banali and the documentary that is being put together. I think this could be really cool. He is a great drummer, and it would be interesting to hear some of the stories he has about Quiet Riot and Kevin Dubrow.
We are beginning to creep up on the 300 fan mark on Facebook. Spread the word about the site. Big news later this week. While I am at it go buy a shirt in our store too. Trust me you will look cool in it and pick up the hotties. Ladies I am sure it will work for you as well. You know in picking up the hotties, I mean dudes. Or yea maybe a girl too.
